Control equipment - PCB design
3Minds have completed the re-design of a CPU Control Board for a Hampshire based sub-contract manufacturer on behalf of the end customer. The re-design was necessary to ensure that all components used are still being actively manufactured and are RoHS compliant. The project involved reverse engineering the original board with the limited available data and schematic capture.
The conversion from through-hole to surface mount, providing that there was no cost or functional detriment was also desirable. This would allow automated assembly for the majority of the components helping to streamline the subsequent manufacturing / assembly process.
3Minds also built and tested the new board to verify the design for the customer.
Hotel room controls - New product development
3Minds were approached by an existing customer to help develop control equipment for a new hotel being constructed in Birmingham City centre. The new hotel is to open micro-rooms designed to feel like cabins on board a luxury yacht.
The controls are used to operate environmental parameters such as heating, ventilation and lighting as well as an intercom. The control interface is mounted on the room wall and linked back to the control gear installed in the service corridors.
3Minds developed the control electronics, firmware, and mechanical structure and provided technical support throughout the CE and LVD approvals.
