Environmental monitoring equipment - Reverse engineering and manufacturing
3Minds have developed a new printed circuit board for a Redditch based company that will replace an obsolete design from the US. The pcb is used in equipment that monitors environmental conditions for business critical IT installations.
The new circuit board will use the existing firmware code to run and will allow the overall system to continue to be made for years to come. The design allowed additional benefits to be incorporated whilst maintaining the original form factor. These include;
- Ease of manufacture.
- Cost reduction.
3Minds are currently providing batch manufacture of this product.
Industrial measurement equipment - Complete electronic re-design
A new set of PCBs were created using an 8-bit microcontroller based design. This provided improved functionality including a graphic LCD and a resistive touch screen. Expansion interface slots were include to ensure the system could easily address future I/O requirements.
All the electronics sub-assemblies were integrated into a custom injection mouled, IP65 rated enclosure.
An external heatsink assembly was designed to solve the heat issues created by the requirements for an internal mains power supply within the sealed enclosure.
