Consumer product - redesign for cost reduction
3Minds worked with an innovative company in the redesign of their air disinfection products.
3Minds were asked to review the existing electronic and redesign the PCBs to minimise both component and production costs.
Working closely with the customer to ensure the correct mechanical structure could be achieved. A smaller single PCB assembly now fits into the base of the enclosure, with a light pipe used to implement the bi-colour status LED in the enclosure.
Prototype boards were produced for system testing and to also confirm fit in the rapid prototype stereolithographic parts.
Production test rig - electronics & software design
The requirement was for a reliable method of production testing a vehicle tracker unit in high volume.
3Minds have developed a dedicated test rig, providing both circuit design and software engineering for the project.
The solution includes a PC based application via a single USB interface. The system providing full functional tests, upload of firmware and configuration files as well as label printer control.
Test results are logged on the company servers for full product traceability.
The test rig is a self contained design, allowing multiple units to be provided as the production volume ramps up.
