3Minds redesigned a mixed technology industrial keypad sub-assembly. The keypad uses both membrane and mechanical operator keys on this IP65 rated panel. It also include LED status lamps and LED backlighting for low level lighting conditions.
The sub-assembly consists of four double-sided PCB in a tight mechanical arrangement to accomodate the mechanical buttons specified by the customer.
3Minds also produced all the supporting mechanical assembly drawings.
Water softener - Control PCB design with firmware
3Minds have developed the control electronics for a sub-contract manufacturer. The requirements were to provide an integrated timed control for the end customers water softener products rather than using third party timers. The product monitors salt density and allows time setting of salt regeneration using a Real Time Control (RTC).
3Minds designed the surface mount control PCB with integrated keypad and also developed the microcontroller firmware. The fault tolerant design allows for failure of the external sensor by analysing the salt level following regeneration.
It was essential that the design was suitable to run at low power so that the optional battery backup would perform for the lifetime of the product.
