Medical laboratory equipment - product design & development
Name withheld for client confidentiality
3Minds were asked to develop all the electronics for a desktop laboratory analyser. The nephelometer uses an optical system to measure the scattering of light through the liquid under test.
A set of 3 board assemblies was developed to bring together all the control functions. This includes the closed loop control of the sample temperature with a Peltier and fan arrangemnt and a Laser /CCD assembly for light analysis.
Particular attention was given to the partitioning of the electronics so that the alignment and calibration of the laser / temperature control sub-assembly could be carried out prior to final system assembly.
The main board also integrates all the operator interface elements; backlit LCD, tactile mambrane keypad and magnetic card reader. Connectivity is also provided for an external printer and a barcode reader.
3Minds worked closely with the client during the firmware development and produced prototype boards for evaluation and system testing.
Industrial display module - reverse engineering challenge
3Minds have completed the re-design of a LCD Control board for a Derbyshire based manufacturer, specialising in electronic control equipement for demanding environments.
The reverse engineering excercise was required to ensure that the mature product could continue to be manufactured and supported. It was also an ideal opportunity to reduce the component count and material costs where possible.
Liaison with suppliers throughout the re-design phase was carried out to ensure component compatibilty and continued availability.
3Minds also built and tested prototype boards to verify the design for the customer.
